March is Bleeding Disorders Month!
Bleeding Disorders Awareness Month (BDAM) is observed each March to raise awareness, promote advocacy, and support individuals and families living with inherited bleeding disorders such as hemophilia and von Willebrand disease.
Throughout the month, TCBD joins the national movement to educate, advocate, and invest in our community’s future.
Bleeding Disorders Awareness Month has been observed each March since 2016, after being designated as a national health observance by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
In 2019, Texas State Representative Tom Oliverson authored House Bill 1508 recognizing March as Bleeding Disorders Awareness Month, which serves as a means of rallying support for vital research and resources that can help improve the outlook for those living with these diseases.
Prior to Bleeding Disorders Awareness Month, March was known “Hemophilia Awareness Month”, a designation confirmed by President Ronald Reagan in March 1986.

Each March, advocates from across the country join the National Bleeding Disorders Foundation (NBDF) for its annual Washington Days.
This event allows you to share your story with your elected officials and their staff while also asking for them to support federal policies that are important to our community.
